St. Vincent

St. Vincent formerly of The Polyphonic Spree records her sophmore album at The Track Studio with John Congleton

Annie wrote her latest album on the Mac computer program GarageBand after spending long days studying The Wizard of Oz for songwriting inspiration. Clark is from the Lake Highlands area of Dallas, the same area Beavis and Butthead are from. Her uncle is from the group Tuck and Patti, a chart topping jazz duo for which Annie got an early start in the music industry. She specializes in jazz finger style guitar playing and plays electric like her forefathers Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page yet plays in the vein of a combination of Bjork and PJ Harvey. St. Vincent has collaborated with the likes of John Vanderslice and Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls. Her last album was inspired by the television show Arrested Development. Annie began initial recording sessions for Actor in New York with producer Scott Solter and finished sessions at The Track before going onto an extensive world tour and television performances on David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.

Rumors have been circulating of St. Vincent doing a collaboration with Fatboy Slim and David Byrne of The Talking Heads in the near future. Annie enlisted the musical session services of Midlake drummer McKenzie Smith and Pleasant Grove/Boom Boom Box/Myopic percussionist Jeff Ryan, but other than that did most of the other musical parts by herself. She spent most of her days in the studio creating ultra distorted fuzz guitar tones through vintage amplifiers. Clark studied music at Berklee before joining the Polyphonic Spree and getting her start in the music industry. Before entering the studio St. Vincent had embarked on a tour with Death Cab For Cutie. Annie is just now on hiatus after more than a year of extensive touring following her album release. Actor topped the Billboard 200 at number 90 for 3 weeks and number 9 on the Independent Albums chart for 6 weeks. She has just recently collaborated with Beck Hansen among a group of other notable musicians in the studio for a collection of INXS renditions in a professionally filmed documentary format.
